Welcome to the website of West Coast artist Alison Hale. Just when I feel I am "fished out" I find I am drawn back to a feeling of concern for the survival of our native fish as its existence is challenged by the brown trout in the Inangahua River - sights which would lift a trout fisherman's heart, one shoal of 200 plus trout heading upstream to spawn. It leaves me asking, "What are the trout feeding on? Where are our little natives? Are trout the only fish I will ever see in the Inangahua apart from the eel and the odd bully?"
I shall be taking a break soon and working towards a joint exhibition with the horse again as my subject mater - a love I cannot leave alone for too long.
