Alison Hale, Artist

Welcome to the website of Alison Hale.

Sorry Folk for not posting work for sometime but I broke my ankle in november after getting back from australia and although I kept painting I slowed down majorly on getting work photographed and up on the web. im now up and going so new work will be appearing at regular intervals.
The Hale Gallery in Reefton is open most days. My Studio is be based in the Old Reefton Courthouse on Bridge Street unless I have work to do in the gallery on Broadway

Please come in and browse through over 100 works of art, including oils on canvas, oils on glass and drawings.

Oil on canvas
Alisons strong, vibrant style reflects the richness and diversity of the coast. The subjects capture the often subtle realtionships between people and place: the courage and strength of the pioneer women, horses, cattle and the men that worked them, and more recently, native fish and the fragile ecosystems they inhabit.

Images on glass
Alison has mastered the technique of applying oil paint to a glass surface. It creates a unique depth, translucence and fluidness that is entirely captivating. The image of course, is created in reverse. Alisons signature themes are bought to life in this medium which are now available as high quality, ready to hang, fine art items.

New to the site is the Scarlet Girl Series of works on glass panel. The highly narrative sequence of this diminutive, forlorn figure holds many layers of meaning for Alison. Appearing last year in this format, the Scarlet Girl symbolizes loss, innocence and hope on the journey of life, a journey that perhaps has no destination.

Alison works from an established studio located in the old courthouse building, one of Reefton's prize historic buildings. Visitors are welcome. If passing and you would like to visit please phone Alison on 027 288 7498 or home 03 7328 444.
